Picking

Handle pick exceptions

Report the current pick problems that can be handled from the Pick session.

Quick answer

If an item cannot be picked correctly, use Report problem in the Pick session instead of scanning the item as picked.

Report problem is visible in the current Pick session, but some current pick work may not accept an exception report.

When an exception report is successfully accepted, LaSyncro can record the line as an exception and create Problem Center follow-up.

Do not use an exception for a simple scan mistake that you can correct by rescanning the right location or item.

Use scanner feedback first

Some problems are recoverable without reporting an exception.

If you scan the wrong bin, LaSyncro shows:

Wrong location. Expected [location] — try again.

Go to the expected bin and scan again.

If you scan the wrong product, LaSyncro shows:

Wrong item — barcode does not match. Check you are at the right bin.

Check the bin, product, variant, and barcode before trying again.

If LaSyncro says inventory or reservation state changed, refresh the pick task before continuing.

Report a pick problem

Choose Report problem from the active Pick session.

The Report Problem window shows the current product and variant.

Select the best problem type, then choose Confirm Exception.

Some exception types require more information before they can be confirmed. For example, Short pick — fewer units than required asks for Quantity found, and barcode or other problems can ask for notes.

Some visible choices may fail when Confirm Exception is selected. If that happens, leave the item unpicked and ask an owner or admin to review the batch before continuing that unresolved item.

Visible problem types

The current Pick session can show these problem choices:

  • Item not found at location
  • Short pick — fewer units than required
  • Product defect
  • Packaging damaged
  • Wrong item entirely
  • Wrong variant (size / colour)
  • Wrong quantity on label
  • Barcode mismatch
  • Other

Use the most accurate visible option for what happened at the shelf.

What happens after reporting

When a pick problem is accepted, LaSyncro can:

  • record the line as an exception in the Pick session;
  • route the problem for follow-up in Problem Center;
  • keep the exception separate from a successful pick;
  • let you continue with the remaining pick lines.

Reporting a pick exception does not mean the missing or damaged unit was successfully picked.

Finish a batch with problems

At the end of the batch, Pick Summary shows picked lines and exception lines.

If the summary includes exceptions, LaSyncro says those items were routed to Problem Center.

Choose Confirm Pick Complete only after the required pick work has been completed or the current session has accepted the relevant exception reports.

If a required pick remains unresolved, do not confirm it as picked. Ask an owner or admin to review the unresolved batch and warehouse record before continuing.

If reporting fails

If Confirm Exception shows an error, leave the item unpicked and do not scan it as successfully picked.

The current Pick session may block some exception reports when the underlying pick state cannot safely accept the exception.

Ask an owner or admin to review the order, batch, and Problem Center before continuing that item.

Who can report pick exceptions

Owners, admins, and operators can report WMS exceptions from the Pick session.
