Understand warehouse locations

Understand how LaSyncro uses warehouses, lanes, shelves, bins, and location codes.

Quick answer

LaSyncro uses warehouse locations to identify where inventory physically belongs.

A location has its own location code and can be created as a Warehouse, Lane (Aisle), Shelf, or Bin.

These location codes are used throughout warehouse operations to connect physical stock with its recorded position in LaSyncro.

Location types

LaSyncro supports four location types:

  • Warehouse — the warehouse-level location.
  • Lane (Aisle) — a lane or aisle within the warehouse.
  • Shelf — a shelf location.
  • Bin — a specific storage bin.

A location can optionally reference an existing location as its parent.

This lets you represent the physical structure of your warehouse without requiring every location to sit at the same level.

Location codes

Every location needs a location code.

For example:

  • A
  • A-1
  • A-1-01

LaSyncro converts location codes to uppercase when they are created.

Each location code must also be unique within your shop.

Parent locations

When creating a location, you can optionally enter a parent location.

The parent must already exist in LaSyncro.

For example, you may use parent locations to group storage locations beneath a larger physical area.

Warehouse root

The warehouse root is managed separately from normal operational locations.

Its lifecycle belongs under Settings → Warehouse rather than Floor Planning.

The warehouse root cannot be deleted from Floor Planning.

What to do next

Once your warehouse structure is clear, create the locations your team will actually scan and use during warehouse operations.
